HOT CANADIAN WALLEYE BITE!

The Walleye fishing has been excellent the past week in Ontario waters around Pelee Island. The west side of Pelee has been hot in the Wagon Wheel area as well as north of the island in 30-33ft of water. The fish have been suspended and casting boats have had good success using a 10-15 count down using weight forward spinners like Tiny Teasers, Tom's lures, and Erie Dearies in gold and lemon lime colors. Most charter boats fishing in these areas have been coming in to the docks with limit catches. Be sure to know your rules about crossing the border this year if you need to stop at Pelee to get an Ontario fishing license.

In Ohio waters the best two areas lately have been NE of Kelley's island, East of Kelley shoal from about a mile east of the island to 6 miles east. The Mayfly hatch is still going on in these areas slowing the bite somewhat but improvement should be on the horizon as the bug hatch slows in the next week or so.  Other areas that have been good in Ohio for Walleye are between Niagara and Crib reefs north of Davis Besse nuclear plant and NW of North Bass Island near NW reef.  Look for the walleye bite to heat back up in the western basin as the mayfly hatch dies out.

Smallmouth Bass fishing has been spotty but some fish have been showing up on the east side of Pelee island in Ontario waters in 15-25ft of water.  Some good bass fishing was also reported in the Kelley's island area on the east side this week.

Great Largemouth fishing has been going on in west harbor and east harbor around the boat basins and channel entrances. Sandusky Bay continues to be hot for largemouth in the lake Erie area.

Yellow Perch have been excellent on the east side of Kelley's island and west of Middle island along the Canadian border. 30-40ft of water over the muddy bottom is best with shiner minnows.

If you would like more fishing info and need to find the best selection of the hottest walleye lures on lake erie, stop by our marina store from 6-6 on Sun-Thurs or 6-7 on Fri and Sat.

Good luck in all of your fishing adventures!
